🛩 Both in business and in life we hear about the 10,000 or 30,000 foot view - climbing high above the situation to take a look at the broad picture. 💫 If you’ve been in an airplane you know that from that height you can see land masses, large bodies of water and some obvious landmarks. 💫 But the details are too distant to be clear. You can’t see cars or people. Colors and textures are blurred and blended. 💫 And if you’re not traveling over water, you may not even be able to tell your direction. 🛸 Instead of looking at your life from a plane, imagine yourself in a drone. 🌟 Get the view from 200, 300, 400 feet. 🌟 Step back enough to be able to see both your immediate surroundings as well as a good radius around you. 🌟 Check out the details. 🌟 Who and what do you see in your circle? 🌟 What direction are you traveling? 🌟 Can you see the colors and textures? 🌟 Are you aware of the beautiful scenery around you? 🛩 For me, the start of the academic year is when I get in the plane and look from high above…where do I see myself in 5 years, 10 years? 🛸 But on a quarterly basis, which I correlate with my kids’ report cards, I get in the drone and look at the detailed plan. 🌟 Specifically, have I set and met SMART goals? (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, Time-Bound) 🌟 What actions am I taking to help get to those goals? 🌟 What actions am I not taking that is delayed or preventing me from achieving those goals? 🌟 Who is in my circle that builds me up and motivates me to be better? 🌟 What relationships are bringing negativity into my life? 🌝 Honest self-assessment is one of the most difficult things a person can do.
